HOW TO AMPLIFY LINKEDIN CAMPAIGNS WITH TWITTER

Get our Twitter messaging strategy that has gained 1000s of additional connections and group members for our clients. And the best part...this messaging playbook is automated! Nothing wrong with that. :-)

SECTION 1: GETTING STARTED
How to get the most out of this action plan

You can use this process to generate leads, add more connections (prospects) to your messaging campaigns on LinkedIn, build an audience (or email list), and add more prospects to your LinkedIn group.

Complete the Action Plan below to accomplish these goals with the exact playbook (and scripts!) we use for our private agency clients.

Keep in mind that with any semi-automated plan like this – it’s a numbers game. Move quickly and efficiently and you’ll begin adding prospects or group members immediately. :-)

Here’s how to get the most out of the content in this Action Plan:

1. Read the entire AP once – Read through this entire AP, watch any videos and download the resources. Don’t execute on the steps until you have finished reading the entire AP. This will help you understand the progression of the steps and put them into context.

2.Complete the steps – This Action Plan is a checklist. Each step builds upon the next. Complete each step in order. Please post all questions in the Linked University VIP Club.

OR

Please bring questions about this Action Plan to the monthly group coaching call. The call takes place at 10 am CST on the last Thursday of the month. To register, please click here.

The Automated Twitter Growth Strategy Overview

This Action Plan can be used whether you already manage an existing LinkedIn group, are planning to launch a LinkedIn group in the near future, or just looking to grow your LinkedIn connection base with your ideal prospects.

You will learn a step-by-step guide to growing your LinkedIn group (or database of connections) using Twitter and a tool called Statusbrew.

Here is the basic outline of this group growth strategy:

  • Create a list of industry thought leaders, publications and top brands on Twitter who your audience is interested in.
  • Use Statusbrew to follow the people on Twitter who follow those thought leaders.
  • Create an automated direct message through StatusBrew with an invitation to join your LinkedIn group (OR connect with you on LinkedIn OR direct them to a lead magnet).
  • A portion of those you follow will return the favor and follow you back triggering the automatic message to your new prospect!
  • Unfollow the people who don’t follow you back.

Pretty simple! Enjoy!

SECTION 2: TWITTER
Twitter Overview

You might be thinking…”Twitter’s not for me. I’m not a celeb or athlete. I’m a business owner. I’m looking to take care of business. And work with people who don’t spend all day tweetin’ and twitterin’.”

And you would be DEAD WRONG!

While Twitter’s thought of as a more B2C marketing platform, there are over 328 million monthly active users.

328 million?!

Belive me, no matter who you are targeting-you’re likely to have some prospects on the platform.

So now you’re thinking, “Okay, okay. My people might be on Twitter, but how can I find them and why use this platform if I’ve got things rolling over on LinkedIn?”

Great question, Carl! (is it okay if I call you Carl?).

Well, Carl. Here’s why:

  1. 1. You can find prospects based on interests/psychographics much easier on Twitter over LinkedIn.
  1. 2. This system will show you will amplify the work you are doing on LinkedIn.
  1. 3. The process includes some automation – and who doesn’t love saving time. C’mon, Carl. I know you do. ;-)
  1. 4. Many prospects on Twitter use the app on their phone and have their messages synced to that phone as well. Meaning…your message will go straight to that thing in their pocket that we as human beings are obsessed with and check an average of 85 times per day

The Basics

You’ll want to have a couple items in place if you have never used Twitter or rarely do.

First – Just like on LinkedIn…your Twitter profile matters. It’s what people are going to see when they decide whether or not to follow you.

The basics about your Twitter Account/Profile:

Your PROFILE PICTURE: Consider streamlining to one picture across your platforms – same rules apply as LinkedIn – smile! (400×400 px)

Your HEADER gives you 1500×1500 px of real estate…Use relevant and high quality images. If you aren’t a graphic designer – try a tool like Canva to create this image. It can be reused as your header on LinkedIn as well.

Your BIO: You have 160 characters (60 characters MORE than you LI headline)- make them count. Follow the same guidelines from our training on Profile Optimization.

Your LINK: This can be to ANY url you’d like > website homepage, opt-in for your e-book, LinkedIn Profile, etc.

Second – Get some initial followers.

Chances are you’ve got friends, family, colleagues, employees, pets, etc. who have Twitter accounts. Get some initial followers so that your account looks more active.

Third – Speak to Your Audience

What is your audience interested in?

To develop a list of ideal though leaders and publications answer the following list of questions to create a list of target accounts.

  • Who are the authority leaders, content creators, brands in your niche?
  • What books, magazines, newspapers does your audience read?
  • What events do they attend?
  • What websites do they frequent?
  • Where do they live?
  • What tools do they use?
  • What’s specific/unique about this group?

Fourth – Start tweeting!

Make it easy on yourself and share out some 3rd-party content that your audience is likely to be reading and interested in.

Look at that list of thought leaders/publications you made. Set up RSS feeds or Feedly feeds to gather this curated content for you.

Carl, you strike me as someone interested in marketing/growing your business. And if you want to go beyond – you could even set up tweets with this content to go out automatically and regularly by using a tool like Buffer or Hootsuite.

This is where your curated content comes into play.

Make it easy on yourself. Don’t spend all day on Twitter trying to start conversations.

Start slow.

Share content. Retweet a couple thought leaders every now and then.

Respond when a follower or prospect messages you.

SECTION 3: STATUS BREW
Creating Your StatusBrew Account

Step 1: Go to the StatusBrew website (if you haven’t already). And sign up.

Step 2: Sync your Twitter account.

Step 3: Decide if you’d like to upgrade to the Premium account for additional messaging capabilities (details below).

Step 4: Celebrate! It’s just that easy. Your account is created and you are ready to go.

Basic v. Premium

You can still complete the process in this Action Plan with a free account, however, there are some limitations.

Basic features to note:

  • All messages appended with ‘-via statusbrew.com’ note in the messages you send your followers alerting them to the fact that you are using an automated tool.
  • Limited to 5 auto-direct messages. -> This puts a limit on the amount of prospects you’ll want to follow each day to make sure all your new followers receive a message.

Premium features to note:

  • No limit to automated messages sent.
  • Search results hide people you’ve previously followed.
  • No ‘via statusbrew.com’ note in your messages.
  • More capacity to follow and message your prospects efficiently.

SECTION 4: THE 5-STEP PLAN
Steps 1 & 2 - Find & Follow

How to find and follow your prospects on Twitter using StatusBrew.

Step 3 - Message

The prospects who follow you back will receive an automatic direct message that sends your customized for that user.
